Respect Butterfield's surfaces and seasonal character
Valpo Parks identifies Butterfield Family Pavilion at 645 Evans Avenue as a seasonal building without heating or air-conditioning. Its substantial indoor footprint does not make it climate-controlled. Tell us the event date, intended photograph location and confirmed access arrangement, then discuss a design appropriate to the expected conditions. A current site visit is useful because the venue page notes changes made since its older virtual tour.
Use the published balloon restrictions as a design boundary
The pavilion page expressly excludes helium balloons and damaging or adhesive attachment to building surfaces. Propose support equipment that can stand independently and have the venue review its placement. Do not plan a garland that depends on tape along a post or pins in a wall. The same rules prohibit glitter and confetti, so specify the finish of any accompanying signage or tabletop décor as well.
Coordinate decoration work with the furnished room
Valpo Parks says tables, chairs and trash containers are set before arrival, while renters remain responsible for decorating and removing their personal items. Ask for the confirmed furniture plan before allocating space to a backdrop. Keep access to the warming kitchen and service routes clear. The venue allows food to be brought in but not prepared on site, so catering logistics should be settled alongside, not after, décor placement.

Frequently asked questions
Are helium balloons allowed at Butterfield Family Pavilion?
No. The venue's published guidelines allow balloons without helium. Share that requirement when discussing your design, and obtain approval for the proposed independent support and location rather than assuming every air-filled arrangement is automatically suitable.
Can décor be attached to Butterfield's posts?
The published rules prohibit taping, nailing or pinning anything to posts, walls or floors. Plan a non-attached structure for venue review. Also confirm removal responsibilities and the access window so no décor or support equipment is left beyond your booking.
