Treat Gebhard Woods as a state-managed outdoor setting
DNR describes Gebhard Woods as a destination for hikers, campers, picnickers and canoeists. Those overlapping uses matter when an event group arrives with a backdrop or additional rental equipment. Ask the park office whether your gathering and proposed installation are appropriate, which area may be used and how guests should reach it. A picnic-friendly description is not equivalent to permission for a private event structure.
Keep the celebration away from water-edge traffic
The DNR page places the canal along the park's south side and Nettle Creek along its northern perimeter and through the park. Choose any proposed photo area with those surroundings in mind, keeping guest queues and equipment away from routes used to reach the water. Include a retrieval and cleanup plan for every decorative component. No design should rely on releasing balloons or allowing loose pieces to drift.
Use the park office to establish what is actually bookable
Contact the site before assuming a shelter, power source or vehicle approach is available. Explain whether the event is a small private picnic or an organized corporate gathering with suppliers. The checked DNR overview establishes the park and recreational context, not those rental details. Ask for the approved meeting point and carry route so a restrained outdoor design can be evaluated against the real site.

Frequently asked questions
Is Gebhard Woods managed as a Morris city park?
The checked source is Illinois DNR's state-park page. Direct questions about organized use and installations to the park's responsible staff rather than applying an unrelated municipal pavilion policy. DNR lists the site phone as 815-942-0796.
What should we include for a Gebhard Woods décor assessment?
Provide the approved gathering area, a site photograph and the route from permitted parking. Note whether the setup is near the canal, creek or a shared recreation path, and include the park contact's conditions for your proposed event.
